about

Mikayla Butchart (she/her) is an award-winning freelance editor, writer, illustrator, designer, and artist born and raised in Santa Rosa, California (which keeps catching on fire, thanks for noticing). Her ROSE-ilience project, which raises money for North Bay fire relief and charities supporting BIPOC causes, won the North Bay Community Philanthropy Award in 2018. She also lived in the East Bay when it was still cheap, San Francisco when it was still cool, Paris when she was dix-neuf, and Brooklyn which she probably still should be, but settled in Portland, Oregon, which has the right amount of trees to raise a daughter named after a moon of Saturn. She is surprisingly bad at painting her nails, can never remember how to spell broccoli or emperor, but writes very funny text messages and is an excellent gift giver.

She would like to acknowledge she was born on unceded Southern Pomo and Graton Rancheria land; got her education on unceded land belonging to the Confederated Villages of Lisjan, Canarsie, and Munsee Lenape; and currently resides on the unceded land of the Cowlitz, Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, Clackamas, and Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians.
